“I Die Daily”
(I Corinthians 15:31)
8,6,8,6
Each time I choose the Truth instead
Of nodding error’s way,
The voice of Oversoul within
Leads on to clearer days.
To choose the higher Path makes plain
The Way my footsteps go;
The mist and shadow disappear
And leave me free to grow.
To know that I die daily for
The choice of life anew,
Brings freedom to my every thought
To do what I must do.
Why should the negative prevail,
While choice remains with me?
I must but seek the positive
To set my footsteps free,
Each little thought, each smallest word,
Each act of slightest form,
These all must bear the fruit of good,
With Spirit as the norm.
Die daily, then, with me dear Friend,
And join me in the work;
There yet remains a lot to do,
Lest we our Duty shirk.
The world has need of what we give
Of Life and Love Supreme;
So, let us then push onward towards
Fulfillment of our Dream.
When all the bands of angels hear
And see what man has done,
The earth at last shall recognize
That God and man are One!
