Fervent Labor
by Rev. Paul Peck
(II Chronicles 15:7)
8,6,8,6
In fervent true devotion, Lord,
I labor for the day;
When all the earth shall know the Word,
And every Law obey.
For fervent labor is my choice,
The Path I choose to keep;
To follow Oversoul’s clear voice,
As humble as the sheep.
I know the Way ahead is plain,
There are no detours there;
It is my labor and my gain,
To freely witness bear.
To bear true witness of one God,
One Life, Truth, Love and Soul;
To make One Spirit my abode,
One Mind to make me whole.
One Principle to be my Guide,
One Light all darkness shed;
These form the space where I abide,
And mark the Path I tread.
Oh Lord, my Oversoul within,
The I Am That I Am:
My fervent labor bears no sin,
My work, no taint of sham,
So, when the final Labor Day
Is come for me at last,
May I be worthy of thy say,
“Well done, the night is past!”
