After the Fireworks – An Evening Prayer with Rev. Paul Lachlan Peck
Dealing with Guilt and Shame
8,6,8,6
All past mistakes are but as dreams,
That error once was real;
To view all guilt and shame as false
Is Love’s divine appeal.
All thoughts, words, deeds of long ago
Were needed in their form;
These taught the lessons needed then,
Though now outgrown, outworn.
So guilt must now remove itself
From God’s most perfect man;
In hereness, nowness I resolve
To follow Mind’s pure Plan.
Shame, too, cannot attach itself,
To weigh my pure thought down;
For I must be about the work
Of claiming victory’s crown.
Thus guilt and shame are seen as lies
To hold me back with fear;
For Heaven is claimed as harmony,
So hell must disappear.
