“He restoreth my soul”

by | May 17, 2012

(Psalm 23:1-6)
8,8,8,8

When all around me seems forlorn
And darkness hovers all about,
I trust the eternal Word, not worn
By time, to guide me gently out.

The God within restores my soul,
And guards my way in every sense;
I need not fear the stones and shoals
With orders given: “Remove thou hence!”

The way grows brighter, Light restored,
The night of sorrow turns to dawn;
Never sought or long implored,
‘Tis given freely; Light is One.

So when the darkness hovers round
And I become depressed and lost,
I need but recognize the Crown
Which rises from each outgrown Cross.
