Christian Science Prayer on Principle for the 2014 Winter Olympics – Daily Bread – 02/07/2014

by | Feb 7, 2014

In obedience to the divine nature, man’s individuality reflects the divine law and order of being. How shall we reach our true selves? Through Love. The Principle of Christian Science is Love, and its idea represents Love. This divine Principle and idea are demonstrated, in healing, to be God and the real man.

Who wants to be mortal, or would not gain the true ideal of Life and recover his own individuality? I will love, if another hates. I will gain a balance on the side of good, my true being. This alone gives me the forces of God wherewith to overcome all error.

Mary Baker Eddy

(Miscellaneous Writings, page 104)

To me, praying in this way – with deepest intentions and INCLUSIVE of ALL MANKIND – is like joining a chorus of angels who are singing a song of gratitude and praise to the all-knowing, all-seeing, and all-acting God. This song fills the atmosphere of Soul, the true air and breath of mankind, and blesses ALL who live and move within it. What a great reason to wake up and add your song! Every prayer is met and answered, every prayer is a gift to humanity.

Sochi Olympics 2014: We Are All Athletes

Today, the Winter Olympic Games will begin in Sochi and all eyes will be on Russia. Meanwhile, Vladimir Putin’s government is pressing ahead with discriminatory laws that persecute LGBT people and mean someone can be arrested just for saying the word gay.

Principle 6 of the Olympic Charter states that discrimination of any kind has no place in the Olympic movement. That’s why we launched the Principle 6 campaign, which is now supported by more than 50 Olympians, including Sochi-bound Belle Brockhoff, Simona Meiler, Mike Janyk, and Alex Duckworth. Their commitment helps bring attention to the issue by supporting the Olympic ideals of inclusion and equality. As they make their way to Sochi, will you join them in a show of support?

By uniting in visible support for Principle 6, we’re telling Russia, the IOC and the world that equality is a fundamental right for everyone, no matter which country they live in.

The only way to beat discrimination and intolerance is to stand up and be counted in support of equality.

Thousands of people have joined the campaign since is launched, and this week they are displaying Principle 6 online to send the message to Russia (check out actress Julianne Moore’s Twitter page!)

Will you join us in a visible display of solidarity by changing your profile picture before the Winter Games begin?

There’s never been a more important time to defend equality – thank you for joining us.

Together,

Hudson, Sam, Brian, Ethan and the team at Athlete Ally

United Nations Secretary General Ban-Ki Moon condemned Russia’s anti-gay laws while addressing the International Olympic Committee on the eve of the Sochi Games’ Opening Ceremonies.

“I know that Principle 6 of the Olympic Charter enshrines the IOC’s opposition to any form of discrimination,” said Ban on Thursday. “We must all raise our voices against attacks on lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or intersex people.”

Russian President Vladimir Putin has been under heavy criticism from political leaders worldwide for his country’s discrimination and exclusion of LGBT individuals. Ban discussed the notion of human rights at the Black Sea Resort, saying “The United Nations stands strongly behind our own ‘free and equal’ campaign, and I look forward to working with the IOC, governments and other partners around the world to build societies of equality and tolerance. Hatred of any kind must have no place in the 21st century.”

Athlete Ally has garnered over 5,200 signatures and built massive support for Principle 6 of the Olympic Charter, which makes it very clear that any kind of discrimination is incompatible with the Olympic movement. 52 Olympians and 14 professional athletes have called for the IOC to uphold Principle 6 ahead of competition in Sochi.

Anti-LGBT legislation is a universal issue, highlighted by the Winter Games. Athlete Ally is combating exclusionary practices by partnering with the Fair Games Project on a powerful LGBT public service announcement supporting global gay rights. Joining this delivery are the Russian Freedom Fund and CoPilot.

Advocates for international diversity can visibly voice their support for Principle 6 by going red. The Sochi Opening Ceremonies take place February 7 at the Fisht Olympic Stadium.
