Election Follow Up

by | Nov 8, 2012

This election was one of the most important in my lifetime.

With so much at stake, I turned to the Christian Science Hymnal for comfort and healing.

Hymn 292, “The Dutch Hymn of Thanksgiving” with words by Maria Louise Baum, gave me hope and joyous expectation throughout the day:

For His is the greatness, the power and the glory,
The victory His, when for succor we call;
His majesty shines in creation’s wondrous story,
And He is exalted as head over all!

Knowing that God is exalted as head over all will bring about unity in Congress and promote progress … “and progress is the law of God, whose law demands of us only what we can certainly fulfil.” (S&H 233:6)

I love Mrs. Eddy’s “PRAYER FOR COUNTRY AND CHURCH” found on page 14, in her Message to The Mother Church:  “Christian Science versus Pantheism” (Prose Works):

“Pray for the prosperity of our country, and for her victory under arms; that justice, mercy and peace continue to characterize her government, and that they shall rule all nations.   Pray that the divine presence may still guide and bless our chief magistrate, those associated with his executive trust, and our national judiciary; give to our congress wisdom, and uphold our nation with the right arm of His righteousness.”
