As a drop of water is one with the ocean, a ray of light one with the sun, even so God and man, Father and son, are one in being.  The scripture reads: ‘For in Him we live, and move, and have our being.’

JUDY COLLINS – “Amazing Grace” with Boys’ Choir Of Harlem 1993

Judy Collins performs with the Boys Choir of Harlem in this nationally televised 1993 Memorial Day concert at the Capitol building

As I think of that song (Amazing Grace) , it is interesting that it has endured so long and continues to move so many people. I feel like no matter who you are, there is some time in your life or even some thought in your head that you are somehow lost, and need finding, that you are in some way blind and need sight. I think every human being, even those who seem less vulnerable to us outwardly, can in some way relate to this. It’s universal. It’s about coming home to divine Love. Amazing Grace is the prodigal son story, the greatest parable ever, because it really reminds us of what we all need reminding–we are always welcomed home, celebrated, by our Father-Mother God.  It awakens us to the fact that no amount of straying, mistakes, attacks from others, ignorance, can keep our Father from holding us in His heart, keeping us in His sights, and rejoicing with us when we realize we have never reallly left home, God’s omnipresent Love.

The song always brings tears to my eyes when I hear it and I love to sing it as well. We need grace every day.  Maybe that’s why Mrs. Eddy says in her interpretation of the Lord’s Prayer: “Give us grace for today…” Our Father-Mother God gives us amazing grace every day.

Much love,
